Like many American and Canadian bodybuilding athletes, Bumstead began his athletic career in his childhood with various sports such as American football, basketball, baseball and ice hockey. He started strength training at the age of 14.
During his school career, Bumstead increased his weight from 77 kg to 102 kg. At this time, Chris also met his current brother-in-law, Valliere, who still trains Bumstead today.
To prepare for Mr Olympia 2022, Bumstead turned to Pro Creator and Evogen Nutrition founder Hany Rambod.
